The Russian theatre "Teatralnaya Laboratoriya of Vadim Maksimov" in Toronto

The Russian experimental theatre "Teatralnaya Laboratoriya of Vadim Maksimov" arrived to Toronto from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, last week. The Teatralnaya Laboratoriya will produce a performance in cooperation with Canadian actors during next two weeks. This will be aplay of Canadian playwriter Vladimir Milman, directed by Vadim Maksimov.

teatralnaya laboratoriaVadim Maksimov is a professor of Saint-Petersburg Academy of Dramatic
Arts. He is a specialist in French theatre, especially Antonin Artaud.
The Teatralnaya Laboratoriya's performances are based on Antonin
Artaud's theory.

Vladimir Milman is a Canadian play writer of Russian origin. His plays
are known in Toronto, being performed by "Phoenix" theatre. Vladimir
Milman's play "Lady and Immigrant" has been chosen as a one of ten
best drama plays of 2008 on an international drama festival in Moscow.

The Teatralnaya Laboratoriya will also perform one of their shows at
the end of next week. On the long weekend in September they will
realize the new show, on which they started working on Friday, August
21st, together with Canadian actors.

The project is organized with a help of the "Russian House" Community
Centre.

On August 29th, the show of TL "Voluspa" after Nordic epic will be
performed on the stage of Innis Town Hall Theatre (2 Sussex Ave.,
Toronto, ON). The show starts at 8pm.

performed on September 6
at North York Central Library (5120 Yonge
St., Toronto, ON) (starting 8pm) and on September 7 at George
Ignatieff Theatre (15 Devonshire Place, Toronto, ON) (starting at 8pm).

The tickets will cost $20, at the door or call 416-897-8048.

All performances will be in Russian language, but the translation will
be distributed in advance.
