A new Russian Library and Community Information Centre’s project “Sharing the Gift of Books” encourages seniors to share thier skills, knowledge, cultural expiriences with children through reading books togehter, teaching children how to read in Russian, discussing books and telling stories.
We are constantly adding new materials to our collection. New books, newspapers, magazines and other materials come into the library every month. At the Library we put up special displays of recent acquisitions, newest articles, cultural events flyers and information from our colleagues and partners.

More than 1000 excellent childrens books are available in the Russian Library. Children who are exposed to books and reading from a young age tend to earn to read earlier, they are more likely to enjoy reading, they often do better in school. Reading opens the world to them and introduces them to new ideas, fostering a love of learning that will benefit them for their entire lives. For parents, reading books together is the most enjoyable and beneficial activities they can share with their kids.

The Russian Library is very grateful for the many gifts it receives from its generous patrons. More than 5000 books that were donated to the Library by members, sponsors, collegues and friends are the foundation of our special collections. These books highlight the historical and cultural growth of the Russian Community in Canada and Russian immigrants of all over the world.
